Weis restaurant owners heartbroken over decision to close iconic Queensland restaurant Changing dining habits and an unsuccessful development application have led owners to make the decision to close the almost 50-year-old Weis Restaurant in Toowoomba. "We are heartbroken," general manager John Pohlman said.

Weis Restaurant Has a New Tenant Triple M
The first Weis bar was sold by Les Weis in 1957 at Pop's Milk Bar, opposite the Empire Theatre in Toowoomba. Based on the simple concept of "fruit salad and ice cream", the original bars were made from pineapple, banana, passionfruit and cream, and were known as Fruito Bars.
